Custom website for poet Nico-Jan van Dijk
Poet Nico-Jan van Dijk wanted to showcase his Rotterdam-inspired poetry in a deeply personal way. Geekie created a fully custom website with an interactive map and a content management system he could manage himself, keeping him in complete control.
Nico-Jan van Dijk writes poetry about Rotterdam. The city is his muse, and he wanted a website where poetry and place merge into one experience. His previous site no longer served his vision, and template-based solutions didn't offer the creative freedom he needed.
We built his website completely from scratch using Next.js. No templates, no compromises. At its heart is 'The Map': an interactive map of Rotterdam where each poem is pinned to its location. Visitors explore the city and discover Nico-Jan's verses along the way.
To manage it all, we built a custom CMS where Nico-Jan can add new poems himself. No coding required, no waiting for developers. It combines the simplicity of an intuitive editor with the freedom of a fully bespoke solution, something off-the-shelf platforms rarely deliver.
The result is a website that feels like an extension of Nico-Jan himself: personal, interactive, and entirely in his hands. He publishes when he's ready, without delays or dependencies.
Does this resonate with you? You want a website that's truly yours, built the way you envision it, where you stay in control. Custom Next.js development paired with a purpose-built CMS is the answer for you too.
